CLASSIC LA RAVE SHIT: Jesse Brooks - LA Groove

FRESH PRODUCE! They threw some of the illest parties in LA. This mix, save for the terrible cover art, was completely amazing. Released officially on Richard Vissions V-Records, it was really a perfect example of the prominent Funky Breaks sound being played at the underground parties in mid-90s Los Angeles. I used to see Jesse Brooks play all the time and always really liked his sets. He was also quite friendly when I'd roll up to him trippin' ballz halfway through his set to ask about a record. Props.

came across this looking for a cover image as I'm going through digitizing my old collection. Yep also saw some great Jesse Brooks live sets in SoCal in the 90s, that was good stuff, as were the many John Kelley sets, who always comes to mind when someone says "funky breaks". Thanks for putting this up. Pretty cool that Fresh Produce is now also giving the download away.

hey, but I kind of dig this cover art ;)
