Steady Dippin' (The Hundreds Mixtape Vol. 2)

This is the new mix I did for the kings of street wear, The Hundreds (they also host it!) It's a summery mix of low rider classics as well as lots of other cool music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. It was originally supposed to be a sequel to Drive-By Bangers, but we decided to go non hip-hop. 500 copies floated around the Magic tradeshow in vegas this week and I'm told 1000 more are being made. Til then, I figured I'd make it easily accessible for my own personal hundreds (chuckle chuckle.)

Some of the most fun I had in NYC last week was had in a relatively empty bassment at 205 Chrystie. It was hot as fuck so nobody really wanted to hang down there except my homie Simon from Iceland and my main man DJ Duane. (Seriously dudes, thanks for staying.) The reason it was so fun was that the sound down there was just unbeleivable and the DJ set up is triple OG as well. I played so much shit I never get a chance to play and it was extra fun and sounded dope. I made this mix to commemorate that night and all the fun that was had. Thanks to The Bangers for having me as well as The Brothers Cartwright who came through and saved us all.

I'm in NY and don't have access to my records, so I can't post pictures of the labels. However, last week I ripped two extra fresh Harold Faltermeyer masterpeices! Both happen to be on Side B of their respective releases, so that's good news for everyone. The first is a dope extended version of the classic Fletch Theme (MCA - 1985) the second is a record that I'm quite into at the moment. I found it last week for $1.99 and it rules. First of all, it's E.G. Daily aka Dotty from Pee-Wee's Great Adventure aka the chick singing at the dance in Better Off Dead aka had a dope track on the Summer School soundtrack. Can you say 80's Icon? I dont know if I can, but I'd like to. Second of all, the track is produced by Mr. Faltermeyer and third it has additional remixing from Jellybean. $1.99. Rad. (A&M - 1986)

It's been a minute since I've posted some really new music up on here. As many would know, Basement Jaxx are one of my all time favorites. They are always dope, even when they make weird gypsy house like their last album. Now, even though that gypsy shit is all well and good... I much prefer the sounds they used to purvey on their early EP's. Tracks like Raw Shit, Fly Life and City People changed my whole shit up. The last 12" they dropped with that Roxanne Shante track, Make Me Sweat, kinda hipped me to the fact that they were moving back in that direction. Their new EP, The Nifty EP is amazing. I just ripped all four tracks! I can't even remember the last time I digitized a whole EP. The whole thing is hard as nails and really funky. Just crazy.

You may have noticed a slowing in posts... Actually I know you noticed because my Stat Counter says my numbers are dipping crazy. Maybe it's the lack of posts, maybe it's because I posted Hump Music. Either way, It's all for the greater good. I've been playing out like a mufuckin machine. Like some 6 night a week shit for last six weeks. I'm tired and confused and compounding that with a nice relaxing trip to the city!

I've done a lot of surprisingly fun nights the last couple weeks, but Banana Split continues to be the party of the week for me. Last week, it was just me and Blu Jemz all night and it was Bananas (pun intended.) We had the party photographers on they shit!

AV8 - 2002

Here's a lazy Weds B-Side for ya! One of my very own even. I haven't had time to rip anything new this week and you know I'm a gluton for bigging myself up. I made this as a b-side to my AV8 Blends 12". The a-side was a blend of Eminem's Without Me that I made to play for black people at Cheetah's and NV's. I loved that original when it came out but that beat was far too caucasian-style to play at any grimey NY spots. AV8 liked it and wanted to put it out as the first 12" in their Blends series (the green ones) but said they needed an equally timely and fresh blend for the b-side. I received the Special Delivery Remix 12" in the mail like that day or something and was so hyped to have something I could play at the club at that time that had Ghostface, Keith Murray & Craig Mack on it. So I put the acapella over whatever beats were crackin in the club that summer (anyone who was in NY that summer will agree with my choices.) The title for the 12" was supposed to be Dickie Greenleaf Blends, with the a-side being Without Me (The Trailer Park Girls Mix) and the b-side being Extra Special Delivery. Somehow, the entire thing came out titled Trailer Park Girls Mix. I believe they pressed like 1000 but I don't know where they all went because it's hard to come by. I think most of em went to Europe because whenever they come up on Gemm it's in Germany or Italy. I was only given like 10... but I murdered those test presses all summer. I still have my wrecked white labels. It was so dope to play my own shit. To date, this is still the only vinyl (of my own shit) that has been released. Peace to CL for the hook up.

F-111 - 1998

Here's some funky late 90's AVH rip-off house dopeness. Found it on a late night mission to Virgin Megastore in Union Square when they first got their little vinyl section together. Charles Feelgood is the fucking man when it comes to real funky hard house shit. No one can really see him in my opinion, well, maybe Donald Glaude. Jason Jinx was a name I saw come up alot in the mid 90's on various Sm:)e releases and the like. In my opinion this was his best remix, though he has a few other winners as well, particularly his mix of Cevin Fisher's The Way We Used To Do It.
